What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy. It is a minimally invasive in-office cosmetic procedure, that uses fine, sterile medical-grade needles to create tiny, controlled punctures in the skin. This micro-injury stimulates body’s healing response and boosts natural collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, firmness, and overall radiance.

How many microneedling treatments will I need?

Number of sessions depends upon the condition being treated. If the purpose is merely skin rejuvenation, we recommend 3 sessions. The sessions should be 4 weeks apart to allow time for collagen and elastin production. Scars and pigmentation may need more sessions. We will suggest the number of treatments for you after a thorough evaluation in our office.

How long does it take to see results from microneedling?

Microneedling induces production of collagen and elastin. Initial improvements may be visible within a few weeks, but collagen production continues over time. Full results typically develop gradually over several months as new collagen forms.

Is microneedling painful?

The needles must go through the skin at a certain depth to stimulate collage and elastin production. Therefore, a topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to maximize comfort. Patients are able to tolerate it with topical anesthetic cream.

What is the downtime after microneedling?

Downtime is typically minimal. You may experience redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours. Some patients notice mild dryness or flaking as the skin renews.

Use of serums and Exosomes greatly reduce the downtime.
